USEFUL APPS FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS and USING ADOBE LIGHTROOM ON THE iPAD and iPHONE

KIAWAH PHOTO CLUB SMALL GROUP SESSION:  Adobe Lightroom

This morning the Kiawah Photo Club Small Group session concentrated on the various types of Lightroom, specifically Version 10.0, which just came out last week: Lightroom Classic (LrC) — the desktop version Lightroom Mobile (Lc) — the version for phone, iPad, and desktop All of these types have powerful new features. Indeed, I think the mobile version is one that many members would find very useful for routine use.

The attendance was good this morning, but many more use Lightroom than were in the session. I thought perhaps everyone might appreciate links to information and tutorials on the new version. In addition, although the new version installed with no difficulty, and seems quite free of problems, several of us have already discovered some minor issues that are readily solved as described below.

BUGS AND FIXES When I installed V10.0 I discovered that all of my COLLECTIONS were missing! There is a bug in LR, but you can solve this by telling Lightroom to sort your collections by NAME or KIND. (If it says NAME initially, then sort by KIND, and vice versa.)

One of the best new features in all versions of Lightroom (LrC and Lr) is COLOR GRADING. This powerful editing function replaces SPLIT TONING. However, several said that the new version retained Split Toning. The problem is that the PROCESS VERSION needs to be updated to V5 in the SETTINGS menu to activate COLOR GRADING.
