Participating club members were guided by Captain Brad Schmoll, who maneuvered the boat to the hotspots on the Kiawah River. We were all “armed” with photo gear in anticipation of documenting dolphin strand feeding, which according to Capt. Brad, had been vigorously occurring all week. We headed to Capt. Sam’s Spit where dolphins were splashing but not strand feeding. The experience had us highly motivated to photograph whatever compositions came our way. During the second half, we took a cruise to the mudflats. There, we were immersed into the quiet solitude of the marsh environment, and greeted by beautiful vistas as the low tide uncovered multiple oyster beds. A variety of large wading birds flying overhead in the bright cloudless sky tested our skills at flying bird photography. We headed back to the dock with memory cards full of images after a fun shoot with fellow club members.
