This marks the end of our official 2020-2021 season – a year in which we:
- lost our dear friend John Sanders
- learned how to do ZOOM meetings,
- put up a new website
- extended our photography programs for twelve months – June 2020 to May 2021
- met many, many new and old friends from the safety of our homes
- were able to schedule many professional photographers who suddenly became available due to the COVID lockdown.
Members have been overwhelmingly enthusiastic about our use of Zoom video conferencing each Monday morning, to bring club activities & many major speakers & teachers to our meetings. Although the Covid lockdown kept us from meeting in person, the year went on without a hitch, and for the first time allowed members who weren’t physically in Kiawah to stay connected with the club and participate in every way.
Huge thanks to all who made this possible:
- Sylvia Bacon, our president
- Sue Corcoran, worked overtime this year, getting many amazing speakers to join our sessions
- Kimberly Wissel, juggled the calendar, always making sure to bring us great workshop programs
- Jack Kotz, kept us on track with technology and taught us how to Zoom!
- Dick Clapp, kept track of our membership list, and our finances
- Gordon Bell, scheduled our in-the-field photoshoots and coordinated getting images to our speakers for critiques
- Tina Schell, kept us on track to submit images for our monthly Challenge video, then put together a great slideshow with music.
(Unfortunately, music cannot be streamed over the website for the Challenge videos)

Officers were confirmed by unanimous vote. Good luck to our new team – this next year will be equally challenging to the past year, as we try to combine our new skills with our traditional Club events and venues.
Next year’s board:
- President, Dave Pumphrey
- Vice President (and next years President), Kimball Kraus
- Treasurer, Dick Clapp
- Secretary, Gretchen Gross
Kimberly, Tina, Sue, Jack, et.al. will continue to schedule and manage our calendar.
As of today, May 10, 2021
For now, the decision for next year (starting in October) is to continue Monthly Meetings, which often welcome a guest speaker, on the Zoom platform. The format for other meetings will be determined over the summer. Stay in touch by checking back here often and keeping an eye on your emails from the Club.
The summer 2021 schedule is still being finalized, but Zoom meetings are being discussed and scheduled for now thru September. Keep your eye on your email and here on the website for more information.
