Plus other topics!By now many of us have accumulated hundreds of photos in files spread over hard drives. The main problem is that the hard drives will FAIL. It is not a question of “if” but a question of “when.” Or\, although the drive may not fail\, it could be lost in a house fire or other accident. You won’t want to lose the files! This seminar will first focus on the way that Lightroom files\, in particular\, are structured and how to know where they are located on your hard drive. Next\, we will look at one way to make backup copies of the files on other hard drives. One way to store and have copies of files is on a collection of small hard drives. We will look at a process that is suitable for most of us\, but Pam Cohen will describe an even more powerful method. In the next part of the session\, we will review the Lightroom techniques that Les Saucier described this week. We will touch on TPE but spend more time with PhotoPills.Another useful app for night photographers or for anyone interested in the night sky is Sky GuideLIGHTROOM:There are a number of Lightroom users in the KIPC\, but it is likely that most use the desktop version\, LrC\, Most do not use the cloud version\, Lc. In this session\, we will explore the Lc version.I find Lc useful for the following reasons: a) I can sync selected photos to Lc and from there share them with Facebook and Instagram\, among others.b) Photos from the iPhone are automatically loaded into Lc and appear in Lc on the iPhone\, the iPad\, and on the desktop. (They are stored on your desktop in the Pictures folder or wherever you have specified. They are also stored in the cloud.) They can be edited in Lc and then shared to Facebook\, Instagram\, or emailed. Since they are stored in the Pictures folder (or wherever) on your desktop you can readily import them into a LrC catalog in the appropriate folder (a huge advantage).c) Once the photos are in Lc you can assemble them into an ALBUM. That album can be used as the basis of a slide show or made into a portfolio on the web.
